Set Up an Email Address
Posted by on 25 October 2013 03:36 PM

By default, email is not configured for new accounts on Cirtex's servers. You can create email addresses for each account you wish to use, however.

Note: the following examples assume your domain name is called '' and your cPanel username is 'example'.

Creating an Email Address

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Click Mail, then Add/Remove/Manage Accounts

You'll notice the first line says 'Main Account Example'. This implies that you have an email address called This account is disabled by default.
  3. To use the email address, click Mail and then Add/Remove/Manage Accounts
  4. Click Add Account
  5. Enter 'example', where example is your desired email name, type in a password and click Create

Note: the quota defaults to 10 MB. You can adjust this higher, or enter 0 to give it unlimited (it will be limited by your entire account disk space, so be careful here.)
  6. Click Create.

Now, when you login to Webmail or configure an email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple, you'll use the full email address for the username and the password you just created.

Using the Default Address / Main Account

Enabling this is not recommended.  To enable a default address or main account:

  1. Click Mail and then Default Address
  2. Click Set Default Address
  3. Select the correct domain name in the dropdown menu and then type in your cPanel username
  4. Click Change

This enables all email addressed to an address other than the one created above to be delivered to your cPanel main account.

Forwarding mail

In the Forwarders section of cPanel you can set up a particular email address to act like a redirect to another one.

Note: the mail for a forwarded email address will still be delivered to the original sent-to address as well. If you just set up a forwarder, the mail will not be kept locally. If you set up the email account AND a forwarder, then your mail will be kept both locally and forwarded.
